Firmware Development Engineer (m/w/d)

Job Description

We are looking for a professional and experienced Firmware Development Engineer to join our team! As a Firmware Development Engineer at our company, you will be responsible for developing and implementing firmware of medical devices, including automated and manual external defibrillators. You will work closely together with the hardware team.

Duties and responsibilities

• Design and implementation of C/C++ Software on embedded systems like ARM Cortex-A7/M3/M4
• Participation in drafting specifications based on EN62304
• Review of source code and documentation
• Execution of software tests on different test levels depending on the risk class (unit, integration, system tests), especially regression tests for software changes
• Working close with together with the hardware team

Requirements and qualifications

• At least a Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or other related fields
• Solid programming experience using C, C++, assembly or similar
• 3 years of experience in firmware development
• 1 years of experience with development and troubleshooting of firmware
• Solid understanding of non-volatile storage technologies such as EEPROM
• Solid understanding of serial interfaces such as UART, I2C and SPI
• Able to understand electronics schematics
• Familiarity with software configuration management tools, defect tracking tools, and peer review
• Good knowledge in source control tools like Subversion and Git
• Experience with the development environment for STM32 in safety-relevant applications
• Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Proficiency in English and German is essential

Bonus skills

• Familiar with medical device regulations or similar standards
• Experience with the development environment for STM32 in safety-relevant applications
• Experience with the EFM32
